I began to attend Bikram Yoga with my Dad, who had been practising for some time. I fell in love with Bikram Yoga almost instantly. It provided me with the complete, thorough workout and feeling of wellbeing that I had never experienced before. In fact, I was so taken by it that I began to attend classes almost every day for the next two years.
After a while it became clear to me that I didn't want yoga to be just a hobby, but I felt it was something I would like to make a career out of, so that I could share with others the benefits Bikram had brought to me – both mentally and physically. The studio I regularly practiced at suggested that I might like to attend the teacher training course. I made the decision without any hesitation, and headed to Teachers Training in LA, Spring 2011 and completed the course. I was fortunate to have the support of my family, who also encouraged me to attend the training course (especially my Dad).
On returning to the UK, I began my adventure of being a fully qualified Bikram Yoga Teacher. Teacher Training was an amazing experience which enabled me to gain a much more in depth understanding of Bikram Yoga, strengthen my practice, gain a better knowledge of yoga theory and how to plan to teach and potentially open a studio. I also made friends with students and teachers from around the world and from all different walks of life. I left Teacher Training with a new found zest for life and a passion to practice and teach.
Late in 2011, I was approached by ITV2's Bafta Award winning show, The Only Way is Essex – a reality based National TV show. I become a cast member in September 2011. It's been a challenge to get a steady balance between filming for TOWIE and my career as a Bikram Yoga Teacher but I have always found time to practice and teach and stay true to myself.
My story started with a dream of one day opening my own Yoga Studio. Now that story is no longer a dream its reality - Welcome to Hot Yoga Essex!
