Bikram yoga is a series of 26 Hatha yoga postures (Asanas) and breathing exercises (Pranayamas). It is performed in a room approximately 40°C (105 degrees) and an average humidity of 40%. The class is suitable for all ages and levels of ability.
During the 90 minute session each posture is designed to systematically and progressively work out every muscle, tendon, joint, ligament, organ and gland, whilst sending oxygenated blood around the whole of the body. It reaches every cell and restores all systems to a healthy working order, just as nature intended.
This programme was developed scientifically to deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body to prevent illness and injury, promote weight loss, and limit the effects of aging.
In addition, the series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control that increase mental clarity and reduce stress. Eventually, one can teach oneself to reach new targets to work harder, deeper and yet calmer.
You will leave each class feeling cleansed and energised. Bikram Yoga builds strength, flexibility, grace, balance and endurance. With this combination you should see the creation of a lean and healthy body inside and out.
